Joal-Fadiouth

Joal is a little town at the entry of Sine Saloum just on the Atlantic coast. For your information, it is the native town of the first president of Senegal, Léopold Sedar Senghor.

North town, there is a little harbour, but it's not the good place for kitesurfing... South town, at the end of the road, there is a tongue of earth separating the lagoon and the Ocean, and also the Fadiouth island : it's here !

Depending the wind direction and you, you can start either on the ocean side, either on the lagoon side. There is a sand band in the middle of the mouth which could be a refuge, surrounded by flat and not deep water. The local fishmen will take you on this band by boat with pleasure (and some money !).

Be careful with low tide the lagoon should be empty very often !

Article and pictures proposed by Stephan, thanks.
